The Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers kicked off their seasons on Sunday afternoon at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. This matchup marked one between two teams who struggled mightily last year. The Jaguars finished the 2024 season with a 4-13 record, while the Panthers were 5-12.

Through one quarter, the teams were tied at 3 after Jaguars kicker Cam Little made a 35-yard field goal to open the scoring and Panthers kicker Ryan Fitzgerald responded with a 48-yarder.

The Jaguars took the lead with a touchdown in the second quarter, but due to inclement weather in the area around the stadium, the game was paused.

The Jaguars took the lead on a touchdown pass thrown by quarterback Trevor Lawrence to tight end Hunter Long. Immediately after Little added the extra point to make it a 10-3 game, the referees paused the game due to the weather. There was 8:32 left on the clock in the second quarter at the time of the stoppage.

At the time of the delay, Lawrence was 10-of-14 passing for 84 yards and the one touchdown while, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young struggled early. He was 3-of-6 passing for just 16 yards and one interception when the game was paused.

The Jaguars had 43 yards on the ground, led by Travis Etienne Jr., who had six carries for 28 yards. Chuba Hubbard has taken the bulk of the Panthers' rushing attack. At the time of the delay, Hubbard had seven carries for 31 yards.

The game resumed at 3:10 p.m. ET.
