The Kansas City Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl for the third consecutive season. On Sunday night, Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 32-29 win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game in Kansas City.

In the game, Mahomes finished with 245 yards passing and a touchdown. He also added 43 yards rushing with two more scores in the victory, so he had a big night against a tough Bills squad.

After the victory, Mahomes took to X and posted a six-word message: "I’ll see yall in New Orleans!"

Shortly after, Mahomes posted again on X.

"I also apologize. That is why i dont try to spike the ball," Mahomes wrote with a crying emoji face.

What Mahomes is apologizing for was his must-see spike attempt in the fourth quarter.

As the Chiefs trailed 22-21 in the fourth quarter, Mahomes scored on a 10-yard rush to recapture the lead.

However, after the score, his spike was so bad that it went viral on social media.

Mahomes' spike attempt was so bad that people instantly began discussing it, even during a close game in the final quarter.

Mike Golic Jr. said it is "maybe the worst TD spike in NFL history."

One fan even posted the famous clip from the movie, "Sandlot."

So, it makes sense why Mahomes is apologizing after the game as his spike went viral instantly despite him scoring the go-ahead touchdown.

At the end of the day, Mahomes and the Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl to face off against the Philadelphia Eagles, and that's what matters most.
