Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Chiefs' News on Thursday

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are rebounding after a disastrous 2025 NFL season. Kansas City finished No. 3 in the AFC West at 6-11, with head coach Andy Reid missing the playoffs for the first time with Mahomes as his starting quarterback. The duo made the AFC Championship Game at minimum for seven straight years prior.

Mahomes had a tough year as well, with the 6-foot-2 quarterback setting career lows in touchdowns (22), passing yards (3,587), completion percentage (62.7) and passer rating (89.6). The Whitehouse High School graduate's season came to an early end after suffering a torn ACL in a 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Now, after spending time rehabbing his injury during the offseason, it appears time is still on the mind of Mahomes. On Wednesday, the Chiefs released a video on the social media website X, showing the team packing up and heading to training camp with the caption, "Next stop: St. Joe ⛺️."

On Thursday, Mahomes reacted to the video, posting a "⏰" emoji in response. The emoji is of a clock, with the Texas native implying that he is itching to rejoin his squad for the 2026 regular season.

The Chiefs' 2026 training camp runs from July 28 to Aug. 20 and will be hosted at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri. The two-time NFL MVP will look to grow his relationship with newly acquired running back Kenneth Walker and further develop his chemistry with wide receivers Rashee Rice, Tyquan Thornton and Xavier Worthy.

Kansas City starts the 2026 NFL season with a home opener against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday, Sept. 14, with kickoff at 8:15 p.m. ET. Coverage will be broadcast on ESPN's Monday Night Football, with Joe Buck on the play-by-play and Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman as the color analyst.
