Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is still working hard to recover from a serious knee injury, but he is now facing issues off the field, too. While focusing on his comeback, a business he runs with teammate Travis Kelce has come under criticism.
Mahomes recently shared a positive update. He posted a video of himself throwing a football again after tearing his ACL and LCL. The video gave fans hope that he could return for the 2026 season, but it is still unclear when that will happen.
At the same time, his Kansas City restaurant, 1587 Prime, is getting attention for the wrong reasons. A viral review has raised questions about the food quality and high prices.
According to the Daily Mail, a TikTok reviewer slammed the restaurant after a disappointing visit. The woman called it “the worst fine-dining experience” she has ever had. Her video quickly gained traction online.
During her visit, she faced several problems. Staff brought her drink order wrong and took 20 minutes to fix it. They also forgot a $15 steak sauce. At one point, she had trouble finding her server during the meal.
“My $100 steak was incorrectly cooked,” she said. “Couldn’t tell the server, you couldn’t even find the server to save your life. So just had to go with it, I guess. The fastest thing our server did was collect the bill. Our $650 bill.”

The review spread fast. More outlets picked up the story, adding pressure on the high-profile restaurant.
Mahomes and Kelce have also dealt with legal trouble tied to the restaurant. A company named 1587 Sneakers Inc. filed a trademark dispute over the name. A federal judge refused an emergency request to shut down the restaurant earlier this year, but the issue added another layer of stress.
Back on the field, Mahomes keeps working. Ian Rapoport shared a cautious outlook on the recovery timeline. “This is good news,” Rapoport said. “That said, there is still some uncertainty. There’s a lot of uncertainty because he is just three months out from a nine-to-twelve-month recovery.“
He pointed to the complexity of the injury. “It is not just an ACL tear. It is also an LCL tear,” he said.
The Chiefs have prepared for any delay. Head coach Andy Reid has shown confidence in new quarterback Justin Fields as a solid backup option.
Right now, Mahomes is dealing with two challenges. He needs to fully recover before his return, and he also has to handle issues with his business.
