With the 2026 NFL Draft being only a handful of days away, the New England Patriots will look to infuse their AFC Championship-winning roster with a collection of young talent. Despite a potential trade for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown and various free-agent signings, the Patriots have several areas in need of improvement ahead of the draft. While New England sits in the back half of the first round, they enter the draft with 5 picks in the first four rounds, and eleven total selections, tied for the second most in the NFL.
Despite not being a pressing need in 2026, the Patriots will have a void at right tackle once Morgan Moses hangs up his cleats. Iheanachor offers an elite physical profile, pairing optimal measurements (6’6, 321 lbs) with uncanny explosiveness for his size, finishing the combine with a 4.91 forty-yard dash and a 1.73 ten-yard split.
While his arm length measured just short of 34 inches, his ability to reset his hands and utilize natural strength in pass protection more than compensates for his shorter arms and smaller hands. While it isn’t the flashy pick, the Patriots could offer the 21-year-old an ideal opportunity to learn behind Moses for a year while refining his technique, giving the team a long-term option for the right side of the offensive line.
While New England saw an uptick in production in the postseason, they are in desperate need of help on the edge, ranking 19th in pass-rush win-rate in 2025. With the addition of Dre’Mont Jones in free agency, Moore would have the opportunity to replace K’Lavon Chaisson as a true stand-up pass-rusher for the Patriots. Moore will need development to become a three-down player, but his ability to win quickly off the edge would fill a major void for the reigning AFC champions.
As one of the more volatile players amongst draft boards, Delp could provide some youth to an aging tight end group. While the Georgia product didn’t produce nearly as much as anticipated, his physical traits offer an intriguing upside with a change of scenery and developmental role behind Hunter Henry. Delp flourished at the combine, posting a 4.49 forty-yard dash, 125 broad jump, and a 38-inch vertical. Delp may be limited as a blocker in the NFL, weighing only 245 lbs, but he showed flashes of competence in that role at Georgia. With the ability to line up in the slot, New England could be adding a multi-role tight end behind their veteran starter.
While the Patriots need a coverage-oriented linebacker, Lawson could prove to be too talented to pass on. Despite weighing only 2026 lbs, the former Alabama senior is a menace in the run game, pairing solid straight-line speed with good instincts and a nose for the football. Although he’s oddly similar to veteran Patriots’ linebacker Robert Spillane, the two would profile as an elite pairing against opposing rushing attacks.
In a draft class with lesser talent than its peers, Prystock could be an intriguing upside selection for New England. As they look to add depth at corner, the Patriots would be adding a true physcial outlier in the 23-year-old corner. Standing at 6’3, Prystock managed to run a 4.45 forty-yard dash with a 39-inch vertical. Using his 33-inch arms, he makes more plays in the run game than your average slender corner, and has primarily fluid hips when covering in space. With a solid performance in camp, Prystock could carve out a role as the 3rd boundary corner on New England’s depth chart.
With a surplus of draft capital, New England will be positioned to add an influx of talent to a roster coming off a Super Bowl appearance. Despite their 2025 success, Mike Vrabel’s group has multiple needs across the depth chart, leaving the organization with some important decisions to make ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft.
