New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye has had a wonderful start to his NFL career. Playing in just his second season in the league, Maye has completed 69.8% of his passes for 6,670 yards and 46 touchdowns with 18 interceptions in 30 regular-season games.
While his play as a rookie in 2024 was impressive, he helped the Patriots completely turn around the franchise this season. Starting all 17 games, Maye had a league-leading 72.0% completion percentage, totaling 4,394 yards and 31 scores with just eight interceptions. He also ran for four touchdowns.
This incredible year, which ended in a 14-3 record in the regular season, led to Maye's second consecutive Pro Bowl selection, a second-team All-Pro selection and had him just one first-place vote behind Los Angeles Rams quarterback for the AP NFL MVP award.
Maye has now led his Patriots to their 12th Super Bowl appearance in franchise history. While he has not had to be overly impressive during New England's three playoff games, he has still earned his team a spot in the biggest game of the year against the Seattle Seahawks.
Despite his success, there was some concern about Maye's availability heading into Super Bowl LX. He suffered a shoulder injury in the Patriots' AFC Championship Game victory over the Denver Broncos. This followed a week where he was limited in practice due to an illness.
On Friday, the Patriots announced the final injury report for Sunday's Super Bowl, and Maye had no game status listed. He was also a full participant in practice on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

This allows Patriots fans to breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that Maye will be good to go in the team's first Super Bowl appearance without Tom Brady at quarterback since the 1996 season.
Maye and New England will take on the Seahawks on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET at Levi's Stadium in San Francisco, California. The game will be live on NBC and Peacock.
