Patriots slammed with worrisome Christian Gonzalez contract update

Training camp is well underway, and there's still no word on Christian Gonzalez's contract extension with the New England Patriots.

Just like Seattle Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon — who's represented by the same agency — he's expected to reset the cornerback market at some point.

Some argued that it was just a matter of time before Witherspoon signed their deal, with Gonzalez following shortly after. However, it's all quiet on both fronts, and it seems that has been the case between the Patriots and Gonzalez's camp for a while now. 

According to Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer (via Kevin J.  Stone), the contract negotiations are in a 'holding pattern' right now.

“My understanding is the agent was looking for market reset-ers on every level for these guys. There’s going to have to be some level of compromise,” Breer said.
