Peter Schrager of ESPN, who has been arguably the most accurate mock drafter the past few years, released his final mock draft. And with two picks in round one, here is who he has Miami selecting.

Round 1, Pick #11: Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami (FL)

“ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Mauigoa has a herniated disk in his back, and teams will have to be comfortable with that. I still think he’s a high pick. Mauigoa is an immediate starter, and new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan needs to find a bunch of those. There are a lot of directions Miami could go at No. 11. Right tackle  Austin Jackson missed significant time last season, and there are questions on the interior. I could absolutely see this new Dolphins regime shoring up the offensive line and building out from there.”

NFL.com Draft Profile

Overview

Highly touted prospect who met expectations as a durable three-year starter at right tackle. Mauigoa has a guard’s broad build, but he moves like a tackle in pass sets. He’s highly experienced with an impressive football IQ that pops on tape. He has good contact balance and a strong core. He delivers firm first contact but excessive leaning diminishes not only his leverage and sustain as a run blocker but also his ability to deal with spin counters when protecting. He’s good at trapping rushers at the turn and can smother their momentum. He has the footwork, anchor and punch timing to diversify his pass-set approach. He works with an innate feel for pocket depth and is rarely out-paced to the top by speed. Mauigoa has a high ceiling but the leaning must be eradicated. He’ll be an early starter at right tackle but a move to guard could be on the table in the future.

Strengths

  • Three-year starter and 2025 team captain.
  • Dense build with broad frame and outstanding lean muscle mass.
  • Well-balanced delivering pop on contact into the opponent’s frame.
  • Generates torque from hips to clear kick-out blocks from gaps.
  • Fits the block and cranks up his foot chop to push the sled.
  • Good hip-to-hip positioning working double-teams.
  • Unlocks hips and digs in with in-steps to door-jamb bull rush.
  • Hands are patient during smooth, measured pass slides.
  • Latches in and runs the rush around the pocket.
  • Has anchor for vertical sets and range to hit diagonal set points.

Weaknesses

  • Average range getting to angles and landmarks in outside zone.
  • Too much leaning and not enough bending as a drive blocker.
  • Falls off the block when feet lag behind his pads.
  • Spin counters are a mounting concern in pass pro.
  • Lack of length limits rush redirection when beaten.
  • Could struggle staying connected to stacked moves.

Round 1, Pick #30: Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee

NFL.com Draft Profile

Overview

McCoy is a toolsy outside corner with CB1 flashes, but an ACL tear robbed him of a much-needed third season. Hips and feet are smooth, allowing for quality lateral transitions and efficient gathers to match hard-breaking curls. He’s athletic in his recoveries but average acceleration leaves him chasing too often on go routes. More focused, physical press disruption should make the rep easier to control. He’s opportunistic with strong ball skills at the catch point. His route squeeze and zone awareness should improve with more reps. We should expect McCoy’s athletic traits and instincts to help him make up for lost time once he gets into camp.

Strengths

  • Former triple- and long-jumper with explosive lowers.
  • Posted 16 passes defensed, including six interceptions, from 2023 to 2024.
  • Patient in the early phases, allowing receivers to declare before opening.
  • Quick, confident feet can match release and recover when beaten.
  • Oily hips create fluid movement and change of direction in space.
  • Has the size to become more imposing underneath.
  • Shows ability to gather and redirect when matching comebacks.
  • Doesn’t guard grass and will look to overlap in zone coverages.
  • Engulfs wideouts at catch point for fast finishes or pass breakups.

Weaknesses

  • Struggles to stay in phase against speedy route benders.
  • Loses poise and will grab when the rep becomes challenging.
  • Needs better physicality to suffocate work space on verticals.
  • Displays some indecision on zone switch-offs.
  • More drag-down tackler than full-body hitter.
  • Missed 2025 season with ACL tear.
