The Chicago Bears have looked great throughout the season, but there are still some weaknesses on the roster. The roster has been playing well, but there are some areas that will need to improve throughout the offseason. There are a lot of ways the front office can decide to do just that, so it will be intriguing to see how they address it. Let’s take a closer look at how one outlet believes they can improve after the season closes.
Pro Football Focus NFL Contributor Zach Tantillo wrote an article highlighting each NFL team’s 2026 New Year’s Resolution. For the Bears, he wrote that they need to find pass-rush help during the offseason. Below is his snippet regarding Chicago:
“The partnership between Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams has the Bears trending toward legitimate playoff contention, but a lack of consistent pass rush threatens to cap that upside. Chicago’s defensive line ranks near the bottom of the NFL in both total pressures and pressure rate and sits 25th in sacks, making edge and interior pass-rush reinforcements a clear offseason priority.”
Getting a strong pass-rush would certainly help Chicago be even better, as they currently have Montez Sweat and Austin Booker as starting edge rushers. With a 4-2 defense, getting pressure in the trenches is vital for success. Especially as we get to the postseason, Chicago needs to find more ways to get pressure to the opposing quarterback to force bad decisions. The team leads all of football with 32 total takeaways, but have 32 sacks as well. If they can continue to improve rushing the passer, they will be an even scarier team to go up against. General manager Ryan Poles is going to have to figure out how to get more talent on the defensive side of the football to help them out this offseason.
