Pro Football Focus is currently releasing their Top 50 NFL Players list, and per usual the rankings are causing much debate. This year’s early reveal of players ranked 50-31 has sparked some strong reactions, with the biggest being the placement of star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Lamb is ranked 36th in PFF’s list, and despite his elite production and status as one of the league’s top wideouts, this ranking feels wildly disrespectful.
Lamb’s 2024 campaign was filled with obstacles. Quarterback Dak Prescott missed significant time, wide receiver Brandin Cooks missed half the season, and tight end Jake Ferguson also missed extended time too. These injuries allowed defense to single out Lamb, by consistently double or triple teaming him all season long.
Despite this, Lamb still had a very productive season. Lamb still posted 101 catches, 1,194 yards, and seven touchdowns, marking his fourth straight 1,000 yard campaign. Lamb’s consistency is undeniable, and his proven track record is more than enough to prove his worth to the NFL community.
In 2023, Lamb was arguably the second best wideout in football, only behind Tyreek Hill and his insane season. Lamb had 1,749 yards that year, and finished third in Offensive Player of the Year. Over the past three seasons, Lamb has totaled 4,302 receiving yards and 27 touchdowns, while also racking up 1,715 yards after the catch. These numbers are not just good- they are special, especially when you consider the time Dak has missed during his career.

What makes the No. 36 ranking even more confusing is seeing much less productive players like Puka Nacua at 32, and Nico Collins just one spot behind at 37. Both those players are elite talents in their own regard. However, Puka finished 2024 with less than 1,000 receiving yards and has only been in the league for two years compared to Lamb’s five. Nico barely reached over 1,000 yards this season, and through his four year career, only has two years with over 1,000 yards. Lamb has been as good, if not better than both players, and this is not just an opinion, the numbers back it up.
By most accounts, Lamb is firmly a top 3-5 wideout in the league, only placed usually behind Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson. To see him ranked only at 36, is a baffling decision by PFF. As the full list continues to be released, it will be worth noting who is placed ahead of him.
