Phil Simms won two Super Bowl titles and threw for 199 touchdowns during his career with the New York Giants. And yet, he's not a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Simms owns NFL records for the highest completion percentage and passer rating in a Super Bowl with a minimum of 14 pass attempts. He completed 22 of 25 pass attempts for 268 yards in a 39-20 victory over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI.

While the Giants have honored Simms by retiring his No. 11 and placing him in their Ring of Honor, the Hall of Fame hasn't acknowledged his Pro Bowl career.

During an appearance on Kay Adams' FanDuel TV show this Tuesday, Simms was asked about not getting into the Hall of Fame.

Simms, 69, made it clear that he doesn't view himself as a Hall of Famer.

"I never think about it," Simms told Adams. "I don’t deserve to be in it. Maybe if I wouldn’t have got hurt in some of my career, things like that. Maybe I should have got when they asked me to be the alternate for the Pro Bowl and they called me and I said, 'Man I’m not coming I’ve already turned that off' and whatever. So I probably could have been five Pro Bowls, maybe all that would have helped."

A few moments later, Simms said he's OK with not getting into the Hall of Fame because he was able to win two Super Bowls.

"I don’t want to say I don’t care. I don’t deserve to be in, and I’m fine with that. Honestly, winning the damn Super Bowls, I got something out of all this."

Simms could've taken a shot at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he didn't. That alone shows what type of person he is.
