Philly passing attack has value

Week 10 will end with an NFC East clash between the undefeated Eagles and the 4-5 Commanders. Our betting approach is relatively simple tonight. There's value on the Philly end, just as there so often is.

Same Game Parlay Built Around the Philly Passing Attack

The best way to attack Washington is through the air. Leading up to Week 10, only two teams had allowed more 20+ yard passes than the Commanders, and their defense consistently gets targeted deep down the field. Defensive average depth of target, or DADOT, quantifies how far opposing passers are targeting their receivers, and Washington's DADOT of 9.2 is the second-highest in the NFL. Seeing that they also rank inside the top 12 of highest yards per pass attempt, our defensive vulnerability has been circled clear as day.

These teams met back in Week 3, an easy 24-8 win for Philadelphia. Jalen Hurts threw for 340 yards and three touchdowns that game, arguably his best performance of the season. Both AJ Brown (85 yards, 1 TD) and DeVonta Smith (169 yards, 1 TD) had big games, and the expectation here is that a repeat performance is very likely. Washington is allowing the sixth-most touchdowns to wide receivers, so even without that past performance on our side, we'd likely be looking to Brown and Smith for a big night.

Smith has been quiet the past few weeks while Brown has dominated, which almost has us thinking it'll be DeVonta's turn for a strong game. On this "MNF" game, instead of picking and choosing how the WR yardage breaks down, why don't we just turn to Jalen Hurts? Hurts should be able to spread the ball around and replicate that Week 3 outing he had in some respects.

  • Jalen Hurts 275+ passing yards
  • AJ Brown touchdown
  • DeVonta Smith touchdown

This combination of plays comes in at a cool +1788 on FanDuel. We considered loading up Hurts to get 300+, which would turn this SGP into a +2910 bet, but we're feeling modest on this Monday morning.

In the news ...

Vikings pull off epic win in Buffalo, cement themselves as a contender — That Minnesota-Buffalo game was easily the game of the year, and we hope you caught it live or have been able to look back on the fourth quarter and OT. Down 27-10, the Vikings clawed their way back into the game, with the defining play being a Justin Jefferson catch that will go down as one of the best of all time. After the Vikings got stuffed on the 1-yard line on fourth down, Josh Allen fumbled the snap and Minnesota picked it up for a touchdown that ultimately sent the game to overtime. Minnesota went on to win, and the Vikings are now 8-1. Minnesota is currently +1400 to win the Super Bowl, and despite falling to 6-3 and the current sixth seed in the AFC, the Bills are still the favorites at +400.

Oregon loses to Washington, ending CFP hopes — Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. led the Huskies to their first win over a top-10 opponent since 2018, beating Oregon on the road, 37-34. The Ducks were No. 6 in the College Football Playoff rankings heading into Saturday, and winning out would likely have given them a great chance of being in the playoff. Instead, they've fallen to No. 12 and out of sight. Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, and TCU all won and sit at 10-0 as we head to Week 12.

Odell Beckham Jr. expected to sign somewhere in coming weeks — Much has been speculated on where WR Odell Beckham Jr. will sign. OBJ tore his ACL in the Rams' Super Bowl win in February and has yet to latch on to a team. It appears he's been biding his time, waiting to find an opportunity that offers him the best chance at another ring. As it stands, there appear to be five suitors for Beckham's talent, with his hope being to sign by the end of November. Buffalo, Kansas City, Dallas, the Giants, and San Francisco are his final list, according to Adam Schefter.
