On a wet, chilly night in Washington D.C., the Chicago Bears — who entered the game as underdogs and trailed 24-16 in the fourth quarter — mounted an impressive comeback to defeat the Washington Commanders 25-24 on a game-winning 38-yard field goal by Jake Moody.
Moody, activated to the active roster earlier in the week with veteran kicker Cairo Santos sidelined due to injury, delivered four made field goals on the night, including the clutch game-winner as time expired.
The matchup marked the second professional meeting between 2024 NFL draftees Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams. After Daniels got the best of Williams last season on a last-second Hail Mary touchdown, the roles were reversed this time around.
Still, the two young quarterbacks shared mutual respect after the game, meeting at midfield for a brief postgame handshake.
“More battles to come between these two,” the NFL posted.

NFL fans reacted to the interaction:
"They’re building a rivalry that’s starting to feel bigger than the scoreboard," a fan said.
Someone else added, Huge respect moment. True sportsmanship."
Another person wrote, "Hell of a battle."
"love how fans just hate on everyone but on the field most players have so much respect and are friends," one more fan commented.
Caleb Williams completed 17 of 29 passes for 252 yards and a touchdown, while Jayden Daniels went 19 of 26 for 211 yards with three touchdowns and two turnovers. Daniels also added 52 yards on 10 carries.
