Previously Fired Raiders GM Lands New Job Before 2025 Season

Tom Telesco got a rare opportunity when the Las Vegas Raiders hired him to be their general manager just months after getting fired by the Los Angeles Chargers. He made some good moves by drafting Brock Bowers and Jackson Powers-Johnson, but his decisions to sign Gardner Minshew and Christian Wilkins blew up in the team's face.

Telesco likely did enough to earn another year in Las Vegas, but the Raiders ended up moving on from him after one season. With Tom Brady taking on an ownership role in the franchise, the team decided to hire John Spytek to replace Telesco.

It's going to be very difficult for Telesco to ever get another general manager job, so he's decided to join the media. SiriusXM NFL Radio's Bob Papa announced that Telesco is joining the network as a host.

The longtime scout and executive has consistently worked in the NFL since 1991, so this will be a big change. He should have a lot of good insight into the league from his time as a general manager.

While Telesco has been fired twice, he did make a lot of savvy moves in his time. Interestingly enough, former Raiders general manager Mike Mayock had a media background, but he has decided against taking any full-time jobs since getting fired.

Telesco clearly wants to stay active. He's been in the league for a very long time, but he's only 52 since he started so young. That said, this might be an indication that he's done trying to work for teams, especially if he does well in the media.
