Raiders reportedly signing free-agent WR DeSean Jackson

DeSean Jackson is joining the Las Vegas Raiders, the free-agent receiver told reporter Josina Anderson on Sunday.

Jackson, 34, was released by the Rams on Nov. 2 upon his request due to the lack of targets he was getting from Los Angeles. Through seven games, Jackson caught only eight passes for 221 yards and one touchdown.

On Saturday, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported seven teams were in the running for Jackson following his release from the Rams. While Garafolo said Jackson was in no rush to make a decision and wanted to join a postseason contender, the receiver made his choice a day later. The Raiders fell to 5-3 with a 23-16 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

Jackson began his career with the Eagles and made three Pro Bowls during six seasons with Philadelphia. He then spent time with Washington and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before joining the Eagles for a second stint in 2019.

The Raiders lost a deep threat when they cut ties with Henry Ruggs III a week ago. Ruggs was arrested and charged with DUI resulting in death after he allegedly caused a crash that killed 23-year-old woman, Tina Tintor. Police say Ruggs was driving at speeds of more than 150 miles per hour and had a blood-alcohol content more than double the Nevada state limit on the night of the incident.
