Ravens WR Zay Flowers Sends Clear Message After Lamar Jackson Update

Zay Flowers and the Baltimore Ravens dropped to 1-4 after losing their Week 5 matchup against the Houston Texans 44-10. They now seem destined to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

Of course, the Ravens were missing several key starters against the Texans, including quarterback Lamar Jackson. He was ruled out due to a hamstring injury suffered in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

There was hope for a quick recovery, but on Wednesday, the two-time MVP did not participate in the Ravens' practice. His availability in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams is "very much in doubt," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Despite the grim outlook, Flowers made it clear the Ravens aren't giving up and stated his confidence in backup Cooper Rush.

“I feel like if anybody’s missing their starting quarterback on any team, it’ll be a challenging week,” Flowers said. “So, we believe in Coop, and we believe in what we got… I think we’ll be alright.”

Rush's start against the Texans was his first with the Ravens after signing a two-year, $6.2 million contract this offseason.

He struggled tremendously, completing 14-of-20 passes for 179 yards, zero touchdowns, three interceptions and a 58.1 passer rating. His most popular target was Flowers, who hauled in five receptions for 72 yards.

The Rams' defense, ranking 10th in total yards per game allowed (309) and tied for 13th in points per game allowed (21.4), could be another big challenge for Baltimore without Jackson.

Kickoff between the Ravens (1-4) and Rams (3-2) at M&T Bank Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET Sunday, airing on FOX.
