The Pittsburgh Steelers started the 2025 season with a win over the New York Jets, and the team is preparing to take on the Seattle Seahawks in the home opener in Week 2. Pittsburgh should win the game against Seattle, but there are going to be some interesting areas to pay close attention to. The offensive line had a rough performance in Week 1 as the run game could never really get going and quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sacked four times. Another area of concern going into the year was the talent at wide receiver behind DK Metcalf.
Metcalf is clearly the number one wide receiver in Pittsburgh, and behind him is Calvin Austin III and Roman Wilson. Some members of the fan base want to see the organization go after another star at the position, but Austin has improved a ton over the last two seasons, and he had a great performance in Week 1 against the Jets. Despite this, fans were clamoring for the franchise to add another wide receiver, and one possibility during the 2025 season would be Tyreek Hill of the Miami Dolphins.
Hill is not happy in Miami, and there is good reason to believe the organization is nearing the end with the talented wide receiver. It seems like there is a good chance he will be on the move before the trade deadline, and Mike Florio shared during an appearance on 93.7 The Fan that Pittsburgh is interested.
"I'll give you a little nugget that made the Steelers chatter a little more interesting to me," Florio said. "The same guy who told me that Jalen Ramsey was gonna be a Steeler, right when the first talk emerged of the Dolphins trading Jalen Ramsey, told me that the Steelers want Tyreek. And I scoffed when this guy first told me that the Steelers want Jalen Ramsey. And that was back in April. So I'm taking this a little more seriously."
Pittsburgh and Miami have done a lot of business together recently. The Steelers acquired Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins back in 2019, and Pittsburgh sent Fitzpatrick back to Miami in July 2025. The Steelers were able to bring in Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith from the Dolphins, and now Hill could be another addition from South Florida.
Hill has had some issues off of the field, and new reports came out after Week 1 that he was being accused of domestic abuse by his former wife, so Pittsburgh's interest may have dwindled since that news broke. Hill would be a risky addition to Pittsburgh as he doesn't have the greatest reputation when it comes to being a good teammate, and he has had a troubling couple of years off of the field. There might be more bad than good in acquiring a player like Hill, but it could also be worth the risk as he is one of the more explosive players in the league.
There might never be a time where the fan base stops doubting Austin as a weapon in the passing game. He has shown improvement in each season of his career, and he has started the 2025 season off on a high note. He is reliable and Rodgers clearly trusts him, which makes bringing in another top wide receiver seem like it shouldn't be a priority.
If Pittsburgh were to make any sort of trade this early in the 2025 season, it should be for better depth along the defensive line, or for an experienced veteran that can play the left tackle spot at a high level.
