Pittsburgh is still ongoing with offensive changes over this offseason. The latest of those is a reported visit to them by another free agent at wide receiver to possibly add another to their receiving corps.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday morning, WR Gabe Davis will be checking in with the Steelers this week. He’ll be en route tomorrow in order to visit with Pittsburgh on Thursday as a possible signing for the franchise.

Davis, being a half decade into his career in the NFL, has played for a pair of teams in the Buffalo Bills before spending last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He, in 74 games played with 56 being starts for the two franchises, has caught 183 passes for 2,969 yards, at 16.2 yards per catch, and 29 touchdowns, averaging out per season to 36.6 receptions for 593.8 yards and 5.8 receiving scores.
However, Davis took a step back in production last season after signing with Jacksonville. He caught just 20 passes for 239 yards, at 12 yards per reception, for two scores, all of those being career-worsts across the board, with 10 games played for the Jags before he’d then have a season-ending injury with a torn meniscus. The Jaguars later released him last month after having signed him, to a three-year deal worth $39 million, just over a year ago last offseason.
Again, this news comes in an offseason with several offensive changes for Pittsburgh. That obviously starts at quarterback as they’ve moved on from Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to Mason Rudolph now, if not Aaron Rodgers at some point. They’ve also re-worked their weapons with Jaylen Warren becoming the lead at running back while, at wide receiver, they’ve also added DK Metcalf by trade with Seattle, signed Robert Woods, and subtracted George Pickens in a deal with Dallas. They’re continuing that with these reports on Davis as well as a potential deal for TE Jonnu Smith, despite Schefter noting that currently looks unlikely to happen with Miami. All of that is to try and help an offense that hasn’t ranked in the top half of the league in six seasons, which could be the key to getting the team out of the middle ground they continue to find themselves in as their defense has routinely still been one of the best over that same span.
Davis will depart for Pittsburgh tomorrow. That could lead to yet another addition at wideout for the Steelers by the end of the week.
