Ricky Pearsall Injury Update: 49ers WR Expected to Play Against Jaguars

Through three games, Ricky Pearsall has easily been the most consistent and reliable part of the San Francisco 49ers passing attack, and this usage should continue despite his injury. With just about everyone else on the roster battling through bumps and bruises of their own, the second-year pro has recorded 16 receptions for 281 yards on 24 targets. His 281 yards is the third-most in the league, behind only fellow NFC West receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba (402) and Puka Nacua (333). It’s also worth noting that Smith-Njigba has played in four games to Pearsall’s three, and that Pearsall played two games with backup quarterback Mac Jones under center.

In addition to Ricky Pearsall, the 49ers should also have quarterback Brock Purdy returning from injury. The former seventh-round pick turned franchise passer missed the past two games while battling a turf toe injury. While he may not be at 100%, he should be more than capable of getting the ball into the hands of his best playmaker. During his lone start, Purdy found Pearsall four times for 108 yards.

The 49ers face a tough challenge against a 2-1 Jacksonville Jaguars squad. While wide receivers Brian Thomas and rookie Travis Hunter haven’t played up to their potential, the rest of the roster has performed admirably under first-year head coach Liam Coen. San Francisco is currently atop their division but can’t afford to slip, as each team in the NFC West is loaded with talent.
