The Russell Wilson era of the New York Giants is only just beginning , but the quarterback is seeing great things for the team. A big reason for that is the presence of talented wide receiver Malik Nabers, who, despite New York’s mediocre offense in 2024, managed to shine and stand out.
“Malik Nabers, man, dude’s a superstar,” Wilson said during a recent appearance on 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony podcast (h/t Bobby Kownack of NFL.com). “I was watching the film trying to make decisions, trying to get a clear understanding of who the players are, this and that. Obviously, you see the highlights and everything else, but when you watch every single catch and every single rep and every play, you get to see the kind of player he is. He’s dynamic. He touches the football, he gone.”
In the 2024 NFL season, Nabers, playing in his rookie year in the league, racked up 1,204 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games. He did that within an offense that didn’t have a stable quarterback situation.
With an experienced quarterback in Wilson this time around, the expectation is that Nabers will further flourish in his sophomore season in the league.
But Wilson will also have to prove that he can still deliver the goods and be an effective signal-caller on a team that has a wide receiver who’s got serious superstar potential in the NFL. In 11 games in 2024 with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Wilson threw for a total of 2,482 passing yards and 16 touchdowns against five interceptions on a 63.7 percent completion rate.
