Ryan Clark proclaims Kyren Lacy’s innocence on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt

Ryan Clark had a strong reaction to the new information regarding the Kyren Lacy case. During his appearance on ESPN’s SportsCenter after the Monday Night Football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars, Clark spoke out on Lacy’s attorney saying that he was not involved in the fatal accident that happened in December last year.

“Kyren Lacy was supposed to be in the NFL. Kyren Lacy was accused of something and being investigated for something that he didn’t do, and he died having to live with the guilt and the consequences of a guilty man, knowing he was innocent,” Ryan Clark said. “It recently was discovered that he was 72 yards away from the crash, that police and state policemen tried to coerce, and doctor, and use ways to manipulate statements that put this young man behind bars.

“They changed his joy, they changed his life, and eventually, he took his own life. This was supposed to be a career, but at least he was supposed to be here. At some point throughout his career, I would expect to have said his name, so I’m gonna say his name tonight.”

Clark continued, “Kyren Lacy was innocent. Kyren Lacy should be here with us. Nothing will ever repair or replace the pain that their parents — that his parents have to feel, and his loved ones have to feel. But we can say his name. There were so many stations that ran the fact that he was being investigated. So I wanted to make sure here with Scott, we could say that he was an innocent man, and at least know that he has that as he rests.”

Last week, additional details emerged from the hit-and-run incident involving Kyren Lacy. The crash resulted in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall, who was from Thibodaux, La. The former LSU wide receiver faced charges of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless driving as a result of the incident.

Before Lacy went to trial, he passed away by suicide. In February, Lacy’s attorney, Matthew Ory, said his client did not cause or contributed to the crash. Last week, Ory said he obtained the investigative report proving just that. Ory said that Lacy passed four cars, but data showes he was 90 yars behind Hall. When the crash occurred, Lacy was more than 70 yards behind the crash.

Lacy played at LSU from 2022 to 2024. During the 2024 season, Lacy caught 58 passes for 866 yards and 10 touchdowns. He declared himself for the 2025 NFL Draft days after the accident.
