The New Orleans Saints have made a move for some insurance amid a slew of injuries affecting their running back room.

The Saints have reportedly agreed to trade linebacker Deion Jones to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for running back Zamir White. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the news.

New Orleans’ move for White comes after veteran running back Alvin Kamara suffered a knee injury during Tuesday’s practice. While Kamara avoided a season-ending injury, the issue is expected to keep him out potentially through the start of the 2026 season.

Kamara, who is expected to slot in as the team’s RB2 behind starter Travis Etienne, is one of several injured running backs for the Saints. Audric Estime has been dealing with an ankle issue, while Devin Neal exited Saturday’s preseason contest against the Los Angeles Rams with a hamstring injury.

White was less than two weeks into his time with the San Francisco 49ers, who had signed him to a one-year contract earlier this month. The 2022 fourth-round pick spent his first four seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, rushing for 736 yards and 2 touchdowns in limited action.
