One of the biggest names being mentioned ahead of this year's NFL trade deadline is New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara.
Since joining the Saints in 2017, Kamara has racked up 7,062 rushing yards, 4,839 receiving yards and 87 total touchdowns. Although it seems like his best years are behind him, he remains a consistent playmaker. In 2024, he had 1,493 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns. He was rewarded with a two-year contract extension.
When the Saints signed Kamara to his extension last year, he made it clear that he wanted to remain in New Orleans for the rest of his career.
“This city has been loyal to me. This organization has been loyal to me,” Kamara said. “I think I would lose my flame if I went somewhere else, honestly. I don’t feel like I would get this same feeling I get putting on the Fleur de Lis anywhere else.”
Despite his loyalty to the city, Kamara has been mentioned as a possible trade target for contending teams. That's because the Saints are expected to be sellers.
Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football recently mentioned there are teams around the league interested in a few veterans on the Saints. Judging by the latest report, Kamara won't be part of any deadline deals.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Saints have been informed by Kamara that he wants to stay in the Big Easy.
"While New Orleans will continue to get calls -- and time will tell how receptive they are to trading starters -- Kamara isn't expected to go anywhere," Rapoport wrote. "Sources say Kamara told Saints general manager Mickey Loomis that he'd like to remain with the franchise through the rest of his career."
Clearly, Kamara has developed a bond with New Orleans. If he's not interested in chasing a Super Bowl ring, staying with the Saints makes sense.
As for who could be on the move in the coming weeks, Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed seems to be a popular name.
