The New Orleans Saints continue to suffer debilitating injuries. The latest injury came in the secondary. Paulson Adebo suffered a scary leg injury in the second quarter of the team's loss to the Denver Broncos.

Now, there's an update on his injury and status going forward.

Paulson Adebo suffers broken femur

With this injury, Adebo will not return for New Orleans this season. It was a hard sight to watch as trainers and medical staff had to apply an air-cast to his leg. He was carted off the field.

Of course, the topic of his contract has been floating around consistently all season long. Adebo has been targeted often this season and has provided a mixed bag of results.

In seven games, Adebo totaled three interceptions and ten pass deflections. At times, he was a spark in the secondary. Other times, he was a weakness. Adebo leads the defense in penalties with nine.

Adebo's impending free agency

With New Orleans' tight cap space situation, it does not seem likely that an extension is in the cards for the veteran cornerback.

They already have Kool-aid McKinstry, a rookie, waiting in the wings for a bigger role. Not to mention, Marshon Lattimore remains under contract next season, unless he is traded at the deadline or during the offseason.

Adebo has shown growth over the past two seasons, but his penalties and over-aggressive nature could put him on the back burner when it comes to targets for the Saints during the upcoming offseason.

It is certainly possible that Adebo has played his last snap for New Orleans.
