Saquon Barkley battling injury as Eagles look for solutions to offense ahead of Thursday Night Football vs. Giants

The Philadelphia Eagles did not practice on Monday as they prepare for a short week ahead of their Thursday Night Football game against the New York Giants.

However, if they did, running back Saquon Barkley would have been sidelined with a knee injury, according to the Eagles' estimated practice report.

NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark later confirmed that Barkley is dealing with soreness in his leg, though he expects to play on Thursday Night Football.

"Source confirms Saquon Barkley had soreness in his knee after yesterday‘s loss. But he fully expects to play Thursday night against his former team at MetLife Stadium again," Clark reported on X/Twitter.

Nick Sirianni is Focused on Looking for Solutions, But Barkley's Injury and More Could Complicate That

This is just one more thing for the Eagles to worry about as they look for "solutions' to their offense over the next two days.

Barkley saw action in the Eagles’ 21-17 loss to the Broncos on Sunday, rushing six times for 30 yards. He also added 58 yards and a touchdown in the air. He only had one carry in the second half, which is where the questions piled in after the game.

" Just like when we talk about getting [WR] A.J. [Brown] the ball, or [WR] DeVonta [Smith] the ball or Saquon the ball, we all want to get them all the ball as much as we possibly can," Sirianni said following the loss. "[TE] Dallas [Goedert] as well. Obviously, we want to run the ball more than we were able to today, or pardon me, what we did today. You always want to come out of that game with Saquon getting enough touches for the type of player he is. So again, we’ll look for solutions, and we’re on a short week trying to get better to put ourselves in position to go play against another NFC opponent."

Barkley isn't the only one dealing with injuries ahead of Thursday. Landon Dickerson (ankle) and Grant Calcaterra (oblique) are two other key offensive players to monitor.
