Saquon Barkley Sparks Reaction With Threat to Quit Golf After Super Bowl Win

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkely just had arguably the greatest season in NFL history for a running back, breaking Terrell Davis' record for most single-season rushing yards with 2,504. Adding a Super Bowl ring to the record season was just icing on the cake.

Now that Barkley is able to enter the offseason and take some time off from football, you would expect that he'd take the chance to relax and recover physically.

You guessed wrong, though. It turns out that Barkley is setting a new goal for himself, and keeping the competitive fires alive inside of him. The goal is an extremely relatable one for fans who enjoy watching him play on Sundays, too.

Barkley wants to break 80 on the golf course this year. If he doesn't, he says he may need to quit the sport as a whole.

"If I don’t break 80 this offseason… I gotta give up the game," Barkley tweeted on Tuesday.

Those are some pretty lofty goals for the Eagles star, who admitted earlier this month that he is a 15 handicap. According to a study by the National Golf Foundation, only 5% of golfers in the world can turn in a round under 80 on a regulation course.

That doesn't mean it's not a great goal, though, and one that many golf fans saw Barkley set for himself and relate to immediately.

It's not often that a common football fan can look at Barkley — who stands at 6-foot, 232 pounds and runs a 4.40 40-yard dash — and relate to what he's going through. When it comes to the frustrations of trying to better your golf score, though, that's something that many people can agree on.
