Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold played through an oblique injury in each of his team’s last two games. The two-time Pro Bowler, however, did not seem to be bothered by the issue. Despite the injury, he led the Seahawks to victories over the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round and the NFC Championship Game, respectively.
Darnold was limited in practice on Wednesday ahead of their Super Bowl matchup against the New England Patriots. This was followed by full practices on Thursday and Friday, erasing any doubt on the 28-year-old's final status for Sunday's big game.
Backing up Darnold in Super Bowl 60 will be veteran QB Drew Lock, who has made five appearances for the Seahawks in the regular season. The 29-year-old also saw some action in the divisional round against the 49ers.
The Seahawks announced their decision on their emergency third quarterback roughly an hour and a half before kickoff. Rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe has been named the emergency QB for the big game.
“Today’s @Seahawks Super Bowl LX inactives; QB Jalen Milroe will serve as the emergency 3rd quarterback,” the team posted on X.

Seattle also named Milroe as its emergency QB for both the divisional round and the conference championship. As an emergency third quarterback, the former Alabama Crimson Tide standout will only be eligible to take the field if both Darnold and Lock sustain injuries during the game.
Milroe made three brief appearances for the Seahawks during the regular season, but has not attempted a single pass.
Also of note in the injury report is fullback Robbie Ouzts (neck) being ruled out after carrying a questionable tag heading into the Super Bowl. The Seahawks also listed tight end Elijah Arroyo (knee) as active for the first time in six games.
