Seahawks injury update explains new signing

The Seattle Seahawks are currently scrambling for answers after recently dropping to 3-3 with a road loss at the hands of the Denver Broncos on Thursday night. While it’s not quite panic time in Seattle, fans are hoping the team, and specifically quarterback Sam Darnold, start to look more like the version of themselves from last year sooner rather than later.

The Seahawks recently made headlines by signing veteran tight end Josiah Deguara to their practice squad, and now, more information has come out about what motivated them to make that move.

“Seahawks TE Elijah Arroyo is expected to miss time with a shoulder injury suffered Thursday, per sources,” reported NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter. “Still determining severity but could be an extended absence. Hence, the Deguara signing.”

It would certainly be a tough blow for the Seahawks to have to move forward without Arroyo in the lineup for an extended time, although Deguara has proven to be a reliable veteran safety blanket throughout his career, and it remains to be seen if he will be elevated from the practice squad in the wake of the Arroyo news.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks are also hoping for positive news on running back Zach Charbonnet, who has missed the opening chunk of this season due to an ACL injury he suffered last year, with the team’s offense seeming to hit a wall over the last few weeks.

The Seahawks will next hit the field next Sunday evening for a home night game vs the Kansas City Chiefs.
