Seahawks Rookie Bud Clark Suffers Injury vs. Titans

The preseason is a good tool for teams that want to see some of their younger players get some snaps in a live game. The results don't matter, but the injury risk is still there, which is why the Seattle Seahawks went into their Week 2 meeting with their starters on the bench.

Early in their game against the Tennessee Titans, Seattle was reminded of the risk as one of their top rookies went down with an injury to his right leg. It didn't take long for the training staff to bring out an air cast for his leg, and Clark was then carted to the locker room.

For the Seahawks, it's the second player they lost to injury this week. During their joint practice with the Titans, they lost wide receiver Jake Bobo to an injury as well. Bobo also had to be carted off, and head coach Mike Macdonald said it was a significant injury.

A second-round pick out of TCU, Clark is currently fighting for his spot on the roster behind starters Ty Okada and Julian Love. When he was initially selected, there were whispers that he could push for a starting role, but Okada has proven to be the better option at this point. That said, Clark was in line for a key role as a rotational piece of their secondary puzzle.

Clark had three tackles in his preseason debut and still needed to hold off players such as A.J. Finley and Rodney Thomas. He was still seen as a more promising overall prospect, especially with the ball-hawking skills he displayed at TCU. NCAA rules allowed Clark to play in a sixth season in 2025, allowing him to play 61 games. He recorded 214 tackles, 21 pass defenses, and 15 interceptions.

Seattle was unable to retain former starting safety Coby Bryant, which opened the door for Okada. Their defensive scheme leans heavily on safeties, however, which is why Clark was expected to see plenty of snaps.

As for the Seahawks' first-round pick, Jadarian Price has yet to suit up. Seattle announced earlier in the day that they wouldn't play Price in the preseason, and this injury helps justify that decision.
