The Seattle Seahawks are 2-1 entering Week 4, and haven’t had much to complain about.
However, the biggest difference so far between this year’s team and the 2025 version, is the running game. In 2025, the Seahawks were led by an explosive duo of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet.
If that duo couldn’t beat you, then Sam Darnold would feed the ball to Jaxon Smith-Njigba. This year, though, there’s no electric running back duo to speak of. Charbonnet has been on the PUP list all season after going down with a knee injury in the playoffs, while Walker left in free agency.
Rookie Jadarian Price was supposed to hold the unit down, at least until Charbonnet could return, but that hasn’t been the case. Instead, Price got benched in Week 3 after losing his second fumble in as many weeks.
Emanuel Wilson and George Holani haven’t inspired much confidence as rotational pieces, either. Some have wondered if the Seahawks would entertain a trade for a running back, but they did get some good news on Thursday.
On Thursday, the Seahawks announced that Charbonnet has been designated to return to practice. This means the running back can begin football activities as soon as today.
Since he started the season on the PUP list, Charbonnet still has to miss one more game. However, now that he’s been designated to return, his 21-day practice window has been opened. Charbonnet now has to return to action in the next three weeks or else he will have to stay on the PUP list for the entire season.
It’s a good sign that Charbonnet’s window is being opened. That seems to indicate that he’s healthy enough to be back on the field, so assuming he doesn’t have any setbacks, he should be back in the fold shortly.
The Seahawks could definitely use Charbonnet. The veteran rushed for 730 yards and 12 scores last season, so he could keep the ground game afloat until Price is ready to take over.
