Seattle Seahawks Face Difficult Decision After Hosting Terrion Arnold

Terrion Arnold Would Strengthen Seattle's Secondary

On the field, Arnold still remains a cornerback who has high upside and has shown flashes of the reason he was selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.

Over the two seasons that Arnold played with Detroit, he recorded 91 tackles, 18 pass deflections, and an interception. He faced injuries in 2025, which limited him to eight games, but with being 23 years old, he still has potential to be unlocked at the NFL level.

For Seattle, their defense and having a defensive-minded head coach like Mike Macdonald could help Arnold further tap into his potential. The Seahawks already have Devon Witherspoon, and after losing Riq Woolen in free agency, they signed Josh Jobe to a three-year extension to keep him on the roster in a larger role, but they need depth. 

If Seattle were to sign Arnold, he would give the Seahawks more secondary freedom and would allow them to line Witherspoon up in both the slot and on the boundary. 

The Off-Field Risk With Terrion Arnold

Purely from a football perspective, the signing would make sense, but Arnold's off-field issues complicate things. Arnold was recently arrested on eight felony counts connected to a robbery and kidnapping incident in Florida. Arnold's attorneys denied the allegations, and he has not been convicted.

His legal proceedings are ongoing, and he has an arraignment scheduled for August 13. Even if Arnold signs, his availability remains uncertain as the NFL could conduct their own investigation.

For Seattle, the football upside is clear, but if they do go forward with Arnold, they will need to weigh out the risks involved with him as well.
