Shilo Sanders again goes after Browns reporter after Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson report

Longtime Cleveland Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer raised eyebrows when she recently reported that veteran Deshaun Watson "has the inside track to be named the Browns'" 2026 Week 1 starting quarterback over 2025 rookie Shedeur Sanders.

Free-agent safety Shilo Sanders, Shedeur's brother, attracted attention and received criticism from social-media users when he responded to a post related to Cabot's report by commenting: "Go make a sandwich Mary."

Shilo didn't back down from going after Cabot while addressing the subject on his Twitch stream.

Shilo Sanders explains his problems with Browns reporter over coverage of Shedeur Sanders

"And this is to Mary Kay: If you’re gonna be a reporter, be a reporter and report facts," Shilo said, per Kristen Wong of Sports Illustrated. "Whenever you have your opinion, and your opinion is always something hateful to Shedeur, then it makes it seem like it’s something weird, like it’s an agenda that you have going on. There’s plenty of women that take reporting football serious and actually do homework and study the game and get the statistics right and get the news right, but with you, it’s so much emotion. I don’t want you to make women look bad when it comes to reporting, because you don’t have the will to actually want to report real things that are going on."

Shedeur Sanders was a polarizing figure among NFL and Browns fans long before he surprisingly slid to the fifth round of the 2025 draft. He was then responsible for some rather unspectacular stats during his rookie season, but he seemed to be the leader in the clubhouse regarding the competition with Watson for Cleveland's QB1 job as of the middle of March.

However, that was before Watson allegedly outperformed Sanders during the Browns' voluntary minicamp in the second half of April. For what it's worth, Browns reporter Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland/The Land on Demand shared that Watson has "a rather big edge...to win the starting quarterback job" as of the first day of May.

Shilo Sanders: Browns reporter should stop "bad-mouthing" Shedeur Sanders

"...At minicamp, they don’t even have all their receivers," Shilo continued. "How are you going to say, 'Oh, this is what I think is going to happen.' We don’t care what you think is going to happen. Let Shedeur go practice. He don’t need to be going on Instagram and Twitter and always saying you just bad-mouthing him. That’s what I got a problem with. ... When it comes to your opinion, you been saying crazy things for the past — since he’s been there. So just chill with that. It don’t make no sense, and it makes you look crazy, like you don’t know what you’re talking about."

During a Thursday appearance on Cleveland sports radio station 92.3 The Fan, Cabot said that she believes she has "been an inspiration for lots of women and young girls to know that you can go out there and do a good job in a man’s world." She also mentioned that "there are so many women who have joined the football world, especially because of some of the things I've been able to do over the years, and I'm happy about that."

It remains to be seen if she will offer any response to Shilo's latest comments about her coverage of the quarterback competition that is sparking emotional responses from many Browns fans. Eventually, Shedeur may feel that he needs to address Shilo's comments publicly and also privately with Cabot.
