The Miami Dolphins were among the biggest disappointments in 2024, as they failed to reach the postseason despite entering the year with Super Bowl aspirations. Calais Campbell was a bright spot on the roster, recording 52 total tackles, 35 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss, five sacks, 12 quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and five passes defended.
The six-time Pro Bowler helped lead Miami's defense to a significant turnaround. After finishing 22nd in scoring defense and 10th in yards allowed the year before his arrival, they ranked 10th and fourth, respectively, in 2024.
While the Dolphins hoped to retain Campbell, he wound up joining the Arizona Cardinals on a one-year, $5.5 million pact. The three-time All-Pro took to Instagram to share a message following his return to the franchise that drafted him, writing:
What a story it would be! Started my career with a bang. Now it’s time to finish it with a bang back home where it first began!

The Cardinals selected Campbell 50th overall in the 2008 NFL Draft. He spent the first nine seasons of his career with the franchise, establishing himself as one of the best defensive tackles in the league. The 2019 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year has since played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, Atlanta Falcons, and Dolphins.
Campbell is set to return where it all started for his 18th season. He has recorded 110.5 sacks in his career and was named a member of the NFL 2010's All-Decade Team.
