After the recent negative news for Alabama regarding recruiting, with three players de-committing, the Crimson Tide is back on the right side of the flip season as four-star safety Ivan Taylor has changed his commitment from Michigan to Alabama

“Just the fit,” Taylor said. “I think I’ll be a better fit there. There’s really nothing else to it. The coaches, the environment.”

The son of former NFL cornerback Ike Taylor has been committed to the Wolverines since July, but the Tide has pursued him throughout the season. Listed at six foot and 180 pounds, Taylor is ranked as the No. 64 player in the country and No. 7 safety in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

“It’s a great feeling,” Taylor said. “It’s an electric feeling. Especially being there during the Georgia game. The ground was shaking. That was crazy to me. The whole stadium was into it. You can tell everyone loves that program.”

Following the Tide's three recruiting losses, its recruiting class had dropped from No. 1 to No. 4.  But with Taylor's announcement, Alabama jumped Georgia and LSU to move to No. 2 behind Ohio State according to the On3 Team Industry Rankings.

Taylor became the 21st recruit in the Crimson Tide's class, which includes four five-star recruits. One of those five-stars, cornerback Dijon Lee, is a part of Alabama's defensive back group. Taylor joins the group as the only safety, with Lee and Chuck McDonald listed as cornerbacks.
