Start, Sit Fantasy Advice For Cowboys-Eagles NFL Week 1
Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Thursday Night Football kicks off with an NFC East matchup between the reigning Super Bowl champs, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Dallas Cowboys. What better way to start the season than with a classic division rivalry? From a fantasy football perspective, let’s take a look at some start/sit advice for this game.

CeeDee Lamb, WR, Cowboys – START

Lamb is due for a productive fantasy outing. With Dak Prescott back healthy, the Oklahoma product will see a vast increase in both targets and receptions. In his last two meetings against the Eagles with Prescott as a starter, Lamb posted lines of 11 catches-161 yards and 6 catches-61 yards- 1 TD.

A.J. Brown, WR, Eagles – START

The Eagles’ WR1 will be available to play and is no longer listed on the injury report. In the season finale against the Cowboys last year, Brown recorded 3 catches for 36 yards and a touchdown. Dallas CB Trevon Diggs enters this contest a bit shaken up, which is significant for an already limited Cowboys secondary.

Javonte Williams, RB, Cowboys – SIT

A change of scenery for the former Denver Broncos back who beat out Miles Sanders and rookie Jaydon Blue for RB 1 duties. Last year, the Eagles’ defense only allowed six touchdowns to opposing backs, the fewest in the league. Williams doesn’t fit the game script, as the Cowboys will likely be more active with Prescott and the passing game.

Saquon Barkley, RB, Eagles – START

Fresh off being ranked No. 1 on the NFL Top 100 list, Barkley checks all boxes as the premier running back in football. The Cowboys allowed 15 touchdowns to opposing backs last season, not to mention Barkley shredded Dallas with 31 carries for 167 yards in their previous meeting. If the Eagles go up big early, Barkley is slated for plenty of touches in the second half to burn time off the clock.

Dak Prescott, QB, Cowboys – START

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Cowboys fans can rejoice as Prescott returns at full health for the season. In 13 games, he is 9-4 against the Eagles, and with a new addition to the WR stable in George Pickens, it’s clear Prescott will see an increase in throws. The veteran QB is ready to reconnect with Lamb, but also with other returning playmakers, Jake Ferguson and Jalen Tolbert.

End Of My Fantasy Rant

The over/under for this contest checks in at 47.5, tied for second second-highest total in Week 1. Obviously, both teams know each other very well, and I expect the Eagles to shake off early rust toward a win. Other names I didn’t mention worth giving a start are Eagles’ WR Devonta Smith and Cowboys’ TE Jake Ferguson. This is my first post, but expect more fantasy takes and opinions from me this season moving forward, MT signing out!
