Pittsburgh Steelers superstar wide receiver, DK Metcalf has started to build some really strong chemistry with his new teammates. The arrival of Metcalf and Aaron Rodgers to the offense for the 2025 NFL season has given Steelers fans a lot to be excited about. Now Steelers fans will get a rare chance to watch their new wide receiver in the box office.
Though Rodgers and Metcalf aren’t going to be seen on the actual field on Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers, the buzz around the team continues to grow. Metcalf has been a standout in camp, and his presence has already given Pittsburgh’s offense a new identity and swagger heading into the fall.
It was revealed via Samuel Long of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Metcalf would be making an appearance in the movies. According to the report, he has a new role in an upcoming film that is known as an XR thriller film titled Asteroid. An article on Wednesday from Deadline revealed more details about the film Metcalf will be in.
"The cast of Bourne Identity director Doug Liman's XR thriller Asteroid, which premieres in the Venice Film Festival’s immersive showcase next week, has been unveiled," Deadline revealed on their website. "It gathers Sinners star Hailee Steinfeld, Rhenzy Feliz ( The Penguin ), Ron Perlman ( Hellboy), Leon Mandel (The Americans ), Freida Pinto ( Slumdog Millionaire ) and DK Metcalf, the star wide receiver of American football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers."
The film features plenty of stars, but perhaps the most notable is Hailee Steinfeld, the wife of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen. Seeing Metcalf share the screen with a lineup of Hollywood names is set to be an exciting moment for fans.
Deadline also provided more information about what the film is going to be about.
"Immersive thriller Asteroid follows a gro up of strangers who take the risk of a lifetime to travel to a nearby asteroid for the opportunity to mine for wealth beyond their wildest dreams," Deadline said.
For the Steelers, Metcalf’s presence in Pittsburgh has already made waves, with coaches and teammates praising his work ethic and leadership throughout training camp.
The combination of Rodgers’ veteran experience and Metcalf’s physical dominance has created a buzz that Steeler Nation hasn’t felt in years, and the fact that Metcalf is branching into entertainment only adds to his rising star power.
Still, all eyes remain focused on what Metcalf will bring to the Steelers’ offense once the regular season begins. His connection with Rodgers has already flashed in practices, and fans are eager to see how that translates when games start to matter. While his movie appearance might add some Hollywood flair to his name, Pittsburgh knows his real script is about to be written on the gridiron.
If early signs are any indication, the Rodgers-to-Metcalf connection has the potential to become one of the NFL’s most dangerous duos in 2025, giving the Steelers a legitimate chance to make a deep playoff run.
When former Steelers legendary quarterback Ben Roethlisberger shared his predictions for the 2025 season, he couldn’t help but get excited about the thought of Rodgers and Metcalf tearing it up on offense. Of course, for that to happen, the 41-year-old quarterback has to get solid protection from the offensive line. He also has to stay healthy. If he can do that, many pundits, and Roethlisberger, believe Rodgers and Metcalf have a legit chance to ignite this offense.
