Steelers Fans Happily Receive Big Promise From Broderick Jones

The Pittsburgh Steelers traded up in an aggressive move in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft to select offensive tackle Broderick Jones. During his first three seasons in the Steel City, Jones has experienced his fair share of ups and downs. From the start, he was viewed as a developmental prospect, and while he has struggled at times, his potential has always been evident.

Jones began to show signs of his promise most recently when he helped shut down Cleveland Browns superstar Myles Garrett, a performance that has given him strong momentum heading into the remained of the season. That game highlighted his growth and the impact he can have when he’s firing on all cylinders, signaling that he may be turning a corner in his young career.

On Monday, Jones spoke with Chris Adamski about the offensive line jelling together and improving as the season progresses. He emphasized that while there’s still work to be done, the unit is finding its rhythm, and the chemistry developing up front is translating into better performances on the field. Steelers fans are beginning to see the payoff of their investment in Jones and the promise he brings to the offensive line.

"I would probably just say us starting to gel," Jones said when speaking to the Pittsburgh media about the growth of this offensive line. "Being able to go against different defenses and not just bashing heads with out defenses day in and day out. Being able to see different schemes and different looks and knowing what to expect and what not to expect."

Jones took the first part of his answer to detail why he believes this offensive line has started to improve. With Aaron Rodgers in town for the 2025 season, keeping him upright has been a major concern.

The way the season started was worrisome, but as the offensive line has begun to gel, it has shown improvement, though it remains a point of concern. Jones continued to elaborate on his thoughts and sentiments.

"Defenses come out versus us because you can kind of anticipate what defenses wanna do versus us because everybody know we wanna run the ball first," Jones said. "People try to scheme around that and I feel like us playing as a offense against everybody else, you know we are close to halfway down... We are getting halfway there, so we are starting to gel more and connect more as an offense."

Jones had a funny moment during his answer when he wasn’t sure exactly what week the Steelers were in, but he did note that the halfway point of the season is approaching. He feels very confident in how this group has improved each week, and he believes that their confidence and performance will only continue to get better.

Steelers' Offense No Longer The Big Concern

When the 2025 season was getting started, many outsiders assumed the offense would be the lagging unit. However, it has been the highly paid and talented Steelers defense that has held the team back.

That was evident when they gave up 470 yards of total offense to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night. The Steelers offense is no longer the biggest concern, and now it is the defense that is limiting the team. They will look to get back on track in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers at home. Steelers fans will also hope to not see Jones tackling Rodgers during his celebrations going forward.

What grade would you give this young Steelers offensive line at this stage in the 2025 season?
