Steel City Underground hand selects the ‘Steelers Hit of the Week’, a bigtime play that shook the opponents, following every game of the 2025 NFL regular season for fans to relive.
The Pittsburgh Steelers went head to head with the New York Jets in Week 1 and were able to make a late-game push that resulted in a 34-32 victory. There were numerous highlights during the game, but one particular play was big enough to be considered the first ‘Steelers Hit of the Week’ of the season.
In the waning seconds of the fourth quarter, Chris Boswell kicked off to the New York Jets following his career-high 60 yard field goal conversion. Up 34-32, the Jets had just 0:56 seconds to attempt to get the ball down the field and set up Nick Folk for a potential game-winning field goal.
The drive went as follows:
On 1st & 10, Justin Fields passed over the middle to Tyler Johnson for a 7-yard gain that was stopped by Patrick Queen and Juan Thornhill. On the next play, Fields threw an incompletion. On 3rd & 3 at the NY 38, Fields once again threw an incomplete pass, the ball meant for Breece Hall.
On 4th & 3 with just 0:25 left in the game, Fields took the snap from shotgun and threw short, left, to Garrett Wilson. Wilson, who had gone head to head with Jalen Ramsey throughout the game, got a shock. Ramsey was waiting and put a legal hit on Wilson that woke up all of Steelers Nation.

With the stop, Ramsey secured the victory for Pittsburgh. It was a hit few fans will forget.
Ramsey, known for his physicality, was tested by the Jets throughout the game but was not intimidated. Following a quarterback hit, he drew the attention of the Jets offensive line but was unfazed.
Fun to have Ramsey on the Steelers now. Also, what a weird timeline where we have DK Metcalf going to battle for Jalen.. got to love it. pic.twitter.com/iRvlryec4C

Although Wilson had difficulty getting up after the final play of the game, he and Ramsey showed respect to each other afterward.
