Steelers hosting popular DT prospect

The Steelers have been putting their focus on strengthening the trenches this offseason and that continued Monday as they hosted an intriguing prospect on the defensive line.

Wisconsin DT Keeanu Benton, who is a projected day two pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, posted he is visiting Pittsburgh.

Benton is a massive 6-foot-4, 315 pounds and had 36 tackles, 4.5 sacks and two passes defensed in 2022. He is only 21 and currently ranks as Pro Football Focus' No. 67 overall prospect.

The Steelers certainly have a need at nose tackle and Benton could help fill that void.

Montravius Adams and Breiden Fehoko, whom the team just signed last week, are Pittsburgh's current options at the position. The two combined for just 49 tackles and zero sacks in 2022, so the team will likely add to the room at some point during the draft.

Steelers scout Ike Taylor had high praise for Benton at the Senior Bowl in February, maybe hinting at Pittsburgh's plans come draft weekend.

"There is no limit or ceiling for him," Taylor said, as relayed by Steelers Depot. "I think this dude is special."

With four picks in the top 80, it wouldn't be surprising if Benton is a Steeler by the end of the month.
