Steelers suffer another major loss on offensive line

When it rains, it pours. That's exactly how the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) are feeling following their 27-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts (2-2) in Week 4.

It was a game that the Steelers quickly found themselves in a 17-0 hole, which they couldn't dig themselves out of. However, the loss is the least of their worries.

On Monday, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler reported that starting right guard James Daniels suffered an Achilles tear and is out for the season.

Daniels was seen a walking boot following Sunday's game which he left with what was described as an ankle injury, but the news that his injury is season ending is yet another devastating blow to Pittsburgh's offensive line.

The Steelers have already witnessed serious injuries to starting left guard Isaac Seumalo (pec), starting center Nate Herbig (shoulder) and starting right tackle Troy Fautanu (knee).

Herbig and Fautanu have already been ruled out for the season, but there's a chance Seumalo could make a well-timed return in Week 5. The veteran logged a couple of practices last week, despite being ruled out by Pittsburgh in Week 4.

If that's the case, Seumalo could then slide back into his left guard spot while fourth-round rookie Mason McCormick, who played in Seumalo's absence this past weekend, could then take over Daniels' spot at right guard.

It's not the situation the Steelers likely imagined they would be in just a month into the season, but injuries have been the story of the season for their offensive line.

Pittsburgh isn't the only team dealing with injuries to begin the year, though. So just like the other 31 teams, it must decide who is best suited to be the next man up.

The Steelers will hope to find the right offensive line combination when they host the Dallas Cowboys (2-2) in Week 5 on "Sunday Night Football."
