It’s Week 1 for everyone around the NFL . There’s going to be some mistakes, and that was the case before kickoff of Sunday’s game between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers at MetLife Stadium.

For the playing of the national anthem, an American flag was stretched out across the length of the field. Somehow, someway, a man got trapped on top of the flag. The attention was on him as he crawled his way back to the sideline.

Yes, the 2025 season is off and running. Fans are getting trapped on top of flags, players are taking the field for the first time in eight months and teams are beginning what is hopefully the start of a Super Bowl caliber season. Long way to get there, but the work starts in Week 1.

Jets-Steelers in Week 1 is a very intriguing matchup

If you’re looking for storylines, the Jets-Steelers matchup has it in abundance. Aaron Rodgers is back at MetLife facing his former team. Justin Fields is wearing New York green after spending last season in Pittsburgh. Jets head coach Aaron Glenn didn’t want Rodgers; Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin did.

Which coach was right? Perhaps Sunday gives us our answer. Rodgers, however, is viewing this as the first game on the schedule and nothing more.

“He makes it seem like it’s just another game, and I think that’s cool for us, being able to just put it in our minds that it’s another game,” tight end Pat Freiermuth said earlier this week. “Obviously we want to go out there and win it for him, but I don’t think he’s kind of living off that, that we’re going back to his old stomping ground. I think he’s just ready to go out there and compete and play.”
