One of the more difficult decisions in fantasy football this week is with Stefon Diggs. Even though Diggs is a huge name, at 32 years old, he wasn’t necessarily a sure thing heading into the year.
According to FantasyPros, Diggs was drafted just outside of the top 100, going at 103.1 as the WR41. Assuming that you drafted Diggs around that range, are you really able to trust him in your starting lineup yet?
Part of the appeal is that Diggs had a really big Week 1 with 15.5 points, including four catches for 55 yards and a touchdown. Those numbers aren’t great by themselves, but when you pair it with the fact that Diggs had 9 targets, it suddenly gets interesting.
I’ve said it before, but Washington has one of the worst wide receiver rooms in football, so there’s plenty of opportunity to be had. Diggs would earn the most targets on the team by a large margin, with no one else even having more than four.
Diggs was still clearly behind Terry McLaurin in snaps and routes run, but he had the second most among all wide receivers and tight ends.
Week 2 is a rivalry game with the Commanders taking on the Dallas Cowboys. According to Kalshi, there is a 50% chance that over 50.5 points are scored in this game.
This looks like it’s going to be a high-scoring game, and although Dallas currently ranks 26th in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers through one game, last year they allowed the most. Per the PFF matchup tool, this is a “Good” matchup score for Diggs, as DaRon Bland ranks 49th among cornerbacks on PFF, although Cobie Durant ranks 10th.
Between the large target share in Week 1, the advantageous matchup, and the fact that Diggs hasn’t scored less than 12 PPG since 2015, I’m looking to start him in your FLEX this week.
