At 2-2-1 on the season, the Dallas Cowboys are very much alive in both the playoff race and their own division title race. But with weaknesses still glaring and the trade deadline approaching, the Cowboys could be eyeing the trading block.
Appearing on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones was asked if the team is doing exactly that. Jones made it clear that the team is open to "pull the trigger" if they see the right opportunity.
“If the right opportunity were there today, we’d pull the trigger… If we saw a great opportunity… we’d be all over it," Jones said, via Cowboys insider Jon Machota.

Cowboys fans are already excited for the prospect of who they might add, though some are being a lot more cautious given the team's reputation for mismanagement.
"Two impact players on Defense and we’re good," one user on X remarked.
"We're all wondering about Bradley Chubb & Maxx Crosby. How about it, Stephen?" another wrote.
"Trey Hendrickson, Alvin Kamara, Demario Davis, Jordyn Brooks...any of them would work," a third said.
"Not to hurt any feelings but he says this every year."
"Yeah, well prove it!"
"Sometimes you gotta make your own opportunity. Start calling... check on Crosby, you just lost Sanders for the year, check on Kamara, check on Justin Simmons, don't expect people to call you. They don't like y'all like that."
The Cowboys have already added a handful of players via trades since the offseason. They added backup quarterback Joe Milton, starting wideout George Pickens, linebacker Kenneth Murray, cornerback Kaiir Elam and - most notably - DT Kenny Clark from the infamous Micah Parsons trade.
That Parsons trade is what had everyone thinking that 2025 would be doom and gloom. And while they have played poorly in stretches, his loss hasn't been quite as devastating as people probably thought it would. Not on their win-loss record at least.
That being said, the Cowboys still need some improvements to their pass rush if they want to challenge for the division title, let alone the Super Bowl.
But they can't give up too much either, otherwise it makes the trade of Parsons kind of meaningless.
There has to be a balance struck somewhere. Jones has just a few short weeks to find it if he wants to make some-last minute tweaks to the roster.
