The Washington Commanders picked up a blowout win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon, and then added veteran depth to the secondary shortly after.
According to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Commanders have signed former Packers first-round draft choice Darnell Savage.
Savage, 28, lands in Commanders head coach Dan Quinn’s secondary with 354 total tackles through his first seven seasons, along with 10 interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, and one sack, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 39 pass breakups.
A versatile playmaker in the secondary, Savage was originally chosen by the Packers with the No. 21 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, where he spent the first five seasons of his career .
Savage played the last two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and now has the opportunity to chase a Super Bowl ring, perhaps going through his former team on the road to Super Bowl 60 in Santa Clara, California, out of the NFC.
