Super Bowl-winning coach offers Eagles advice

Despite entering Week 5 with a 4-0 record, the talk surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles is about the drama surrounding their offense

Playing the 2-2 Denver Broncos, who come off a commanding 28-3 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, the Eagles have much to prove to shake off the outside noise surrounding them.

Former Super Bowl-winning head coach Doug Pederson, who led the Eagles to their first-ever league championship in 2018, offered the team's coaching staff some advice heading into Sunday's game against the Broncos.

Doug Pederson offers a simple word of advice to Philadelphia Eagles

Pederson knows about having to figure out and piecemeal things together on offense. After then-Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz went down in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Rams during the 2017 season, Pederson had to design a scheme suitable for backup quarterback Nick Foles to feel comfortable running.

During his recent appearance on Barstool Sports' "Pro Football Football Show," Pederson insisted that the mindset for the Eagles coaching staff has to be “coaching off of touchdown passes and coaching off of wins.”

"You’re 4-0," Pederson said. "And let's coach off of touchdown passes, and let's coach off of wins, right? Let's get better as a team. We're 4-0. We're gonna ride that, and they're winning games. Jalen Hurts is playing well, he obviously can run and do something. We got to pick it up in the pass game a little bit, but we're 4-0.”

Philadelphia Eagles may have to take Doug Pederson’s advice against Denver Broncos

The Broncos, so far, have shown themselves to be one of the better defenses in the NFL, ranking eighth in total defense (285.3 yards per game) and passing defense (186 yards), while being the 11th-best defense when stopping the rush (99.3 yards), per FOX Sports

The key to winning the game for the Eagles will also be to stop quarterback Bo Nix and the Broncos' offense, which has scored 20 points or more in each of its games this season. As the Broncos are among the top 10 in total offense (ninth, 345.5 yards) and rushing offense (fifth, 143.3 yards), the Eagles' front four will need to shut down the rush and force Nix to make plays with his arm.

The Broncos are ranked 16th in passing offense (211.3 yards), and Nix has seven total touchdowns on the season, so the Eagles forcing him to beat them will be key to winning the game.
