C.J. Gardner-Johnson certainly made enemies with the Swifties after he took a shot at the singer following the Kansas City Chiefs' devastating loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
So, when he was cut by the Houston Texans earlier this week, Swifties wasted no time taking some shots back at him. He finished his tenure with the Texans, having only played three games for the franchise.
“Oh tayvooodoo,” a fan posted on X.
“Ha Ha! That’s karma baby! ,” another fan wrote
“Karma’s a relaxing thought," one fan posted.
Gardner-Johnson's controversial comments came after the Eagles Super Bowl win, where he took to his Instagram Story, writing, "Should’ve Stayed with that thick s***." It was quickly discovered to be a reference to Kelce's ex-girlfriend, KaylaNicole.
Then, at Philadelphia's Super Bowl parade, he showed up wearing a sweatshirt reading, “Swifties Can LIX My Balls."
Following the news that Gardner-Johnson was released, the biggest question was why?
“Among the issues that arose with Gardner-Johnson, per sources: criticism of teammates in the secondary, including the size of one player’s contract, complaints about his role, including a desire to blitz more frequently, and a trade request. It was simply too much for the Texans to tolerate, especially during a winless start to the season after hoping to take the next step and advance further in the postseason.” Texans insider Aaron Wilson reports.
Gardner-Johnson was traded to the Texans in March along with a 2026 sixth-round draft pick in exchange for guard Kenyon Green and a 2025 fifth-round draft pick.
