The TCU Horned Frogs just put on record the greatest season in program history. And they continued their dominance with the Big 12 Awards.
Mark Campbell, in just his second season in Fort Worth, was named Big 12 Coach of the Year and Hailey Van Lith won both Big 12 Player of the Year and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.
The Frogs also had a Big 12-leading three players named All-Big 12 First Team as Van Lith, Sedona Prince and Madison Conner were honored. Van Lith and Prince were unanimous honorees.
The league's 16 head coaches voted for the awards, but could not vote for their own players, showing the tremendous respect the Frogs' players have earned this season under Campbell.
Van Lith becomes the first player in the history of the Big 12 (1996) to win both Player and Newcomer of the Year. She's the first Player of the Year for the Frogs since Helena Sverrisdóttir won in the Mountain West in 2010.
Van Lith is just the fourth TCU player to be named Player of the Year Sandora Irvin (2005, Conference USA) Adrianne Ross (2007, Mountain West) and Sverrisdóttir.
Campbell has accomplished the greatest turnaround in college basketball this season after Sunday's 51-48 win over No. 17 Baylor. The Frogs became one of just two teams in conference history to win an undisputed Big 12 regular season Championship within two seasons of finishing in last place.
Campbell is the first Big 12 coach to win a title in his or her first two seasons in the league.
