Tee Higgins' Heartbreaking Response To New Bengals Contract

After signing a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals that makes him one of the NFL's Top 10 highest-paid receivers, Tee Higgins claimed it wasn't all about the money. But more so what it can for his family in the form of security.

"Ma, I love you. I did this for us," Higgins said. "You ain't gotta worry about nothing else."

In a historic week in which the Bengals retained him and receiver Ja'Marr Chase, Higgins signed a four-year contract worth $115 million.

"The money isn’t the big factor," Higgins said. "It’s being with the guys for another four years and trying to win that championship."

Echoed Bengals' head coach Zac Taylor, "Now that this is concluded, the next step for us is a championship with these guys. I think that’s a big reason why they wanted to be here; why they wanted to come back — they know there’s more for us to accomplish as a team, a lot more wins to be had, a lot more great moments."

After thanking his mother, the 26-year-old Higgins got emotional speaking about his late father.

"This," he said, "is for pops, too."

Higgins' father, Eric, spent most of Tee's life in prison, but was released to see his son play for the Bengals before passing away in 2022.

"One of the lowest points of my life, because I was just so happy to finally have him back," Higgins said. "And it's hard to stay strong when he passed away."

Despite missing five games with an injury last season, Higgins caught 73 passes for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns.
