The Tennessee Titans have been a bit coy as far as their intentions with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft go.
There are really only three directions that the Titans can go with the pick and all seem viable. They could use the pick and get their top quarterback prospect (Cam Ward, per reports), they could use the pick on the best player available (likely Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter), or they could trade down and stockpile picks.
Given the state of their franchise, the latter two seem like they would be more useful than taking a quarterback. The Titans simply don't have the infrastructure to develop a young quarterback right now.
For Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Titans' answer appears most likely to be the third one. Appearing on "Scoop City," she said that the Titans "would like to trade out" because they know they can't fill all of their needs with a single elite prospect.
"This is an organization that is trying to completely revamp and rebuild. Tearing it down... they did not have a good free agency last year. They have so many questions that need answers and a lot of positions to fill. So I understand the argument from some in the building that I know would like to trade out because they want to build.
"I'd put it like this. I'm not sure if there's conviction yet. That's my sense."
The Titans have a lot of needs and own April's No. 1 pick.

Most NFL fans and analysts would probably agree that this would be the right course of action.
There isn't an Andrew Luck-esque quarterback prospect who is guaranteed to be great no matter where he goes.
There isn't a Myles Garrett or Joe Thomas who grades out as an all-time great at their position before they even hear their names called on Draft Day.
If there were ever a time to trade down, stockpile assets in this draft and the next draft (or two), this would be the time to do it.
But if the Titans behaved the way that the most successful franchises operated on a regular basis, they wouldn't be where they are now.
Will the Titans trade down from No. 1? Should they?
