The Houston Texans fired vice president of communications Amy Palcic, telling her she no longer was a "cultural fit" within the organization, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Palcic joined the organization in 2013 and became the first and only woman to hold top public relations responsibilities for an NFL team. The staff she ran won the 2017 Rozelle Award for the NFL's best public relations staff as voted by the Pro Football Writers of America.

In 2019, the Texans brought Jack Easterby in to assess the culture of the organization. Since that point, general manager Brian Gaine and head coach and general manager Bill O'Brien have been fired. Easterby currently is in charge of football operations until the team hires a new general manager.
The news of Palcic's firing stunned the NFL community, with many calling out the Texans for firing one of the best public relations officials in the game.
When JJ Watt wanted to help after Hurricane Harvey he immediately sought Amy’s guidance. He would soon raise $41.6 million. Amy is the absolute best and almost everyone in the NFL orbit knows it. https://t.co/j8mT6Mx88w

the BS “cultural fit” the @HoustonTexans are talking about is that Amy cares more for the players than the organization does. anyone in the NFL knows she’s one of the best at her job, hence the Texans couldn’t cite her performance. but bad organizations always find a way to lose. https://t.co/awWSjdz4lq

When Texans lost to KC in the playoffs after blowing a massive lead, every player stood for questions; was polite, insightful and accountable. That’s the effect Amy has on an org. She brings out the best in people. Horrendously stupid decision by Houston. One of many recently. https://t.co/Vonwzi3lRJ

This is a huge loss for the @NFL She is one of the best in the business. @amypalcic will be a great addition to wherever she lands next. Really shocked by this. https://t.co/CfsCgTzulc
